BioTraceIT™ is Proud to Support the Grey Bruce Aboriginal Qimmiq Team in Providing Humane Population Control and Education In Northern Ontario

“The reason why we wanted to help this group is because they work with First Nation people in Northern Canada,” stated President of BioTraceIT™ Deb Dullen.

Grey Bruce Aboriginal Qimmiq Team (GBAQT) is a team of veterinarians and veterinary technicians that volunteer to provide humane population control and humane education in remote and semi-remote First Nation communities in Northern Ontario.

BioTraceIT™ became aware of GBAQT through Cedarview Animal Hospital while testing PainTrace with Dr. Gumley and Sarah who joined the organization in 2014.

Deb goes on to say, “Unfortunately the dogs often breed and become feral resulting in packs of dogs that may attack small children or maul other dogs who might be companion animals.”

Travel to receive veterinary care is almost impossible as sometimes these communities are only accessible by plane. While there, the team performs vaccines, spays, castrations, deworming, animal identification, and education on humane animal care and bite prevention. They set up clinics where they spay and neuter dogs to stop the overpopulation and packs of wild dogs that cause havoc in the communities.

While we may not be able to directly affect that community, we can support groups that are positively impacting improvement and welfare for both animals and people.

We, at BioTraceIT™, are about creating medical devices that make a difference but also contribute to causes that like us, in their own specific manner, contribute to improving daily lives in communities”.
